Roblox Increases Annual Revenue Forecast as Viral Games Drive Surge in User Spending

July 31 (Reuters) – Roblox increased its annual bookings forecast on Thursday after reaching over 100 million daily active users on its gaming platform. The surge in engagement is largely driven by the popularity of viral games like "Grow a Garden", which has sparked a spike in user activity. Following the announcement, Roblox shares jumped 19% in premarket trading.

Roblox continues to experience impressive growth, driven by the popularity of its free-to-play games and broad accessibility across age groups and demographics. Viral hits like “Grow a Garden” have played a significant role in attracting millions of players worldwide.

In the second quarter, average daily active users (DAUs) — a key engagement metric — increased by 41% year-over-year, reaching 111.8 million. Total hours engaged jumped 58%, hitting 27.4 billion, underscoring the platform’s deepening user involvement.

A major driver of this momentum was Grow a Garden, a tycoon-style game where users expand virtual land by trading seeds and plants. In June, the game made history by setting a world record for the highest number of concurrent players, further showcasing Roblox's global reach.

To capitalize on this surge, Roblox has been enhancing its search and discovery features to give more visibility to high-performing games like Grow a Garden, according to CFO Naveen Chopra. These efforts are paying off, boosting both user engagement and in-game spending.

Amid economic uncertainty, Roblox is also diversifying its revenue streams beyond gaming — transforming the platform into a destination for social interaction, virtual commerce, and advertising. These strategic shifts have fueled strong investor confidence, with Roblox stock more than doubling in value in 2025, significantly outperforming other gaming companies.

The company now expects fiscal 2025 bookings between $5.87 billion and $5.97 billion, up from its previous projection of $5.29 billion to $5.36 billion. For the third quarter, Roblox forecasts bookings in the range of $1.59 billion to $1.64 billion, beating earlier estimates of $1.35 billion (LSEG data). Q2 bookings came in at $1.44 billion, surpassing market expectations of $1.24 billion.
