Kalmyk State University achieved a historic milestone this week as it warmly welcomed its first-ever batch of Indian MBBS students.

The group had an official meeting with Rector Salaev Badma Katinovich, where they were also joined by Dr. Vijay Vishnoi, Indian Student Representative at Kalmyk State University. The Rector extended his heartfelt greetings to the students and assured them of full support in their academic and cultural integration.

This landmark interaction marks a meaningful step forward in fostering strong academic and cultural collaboration between India and Russia. Both the University leadership and student representatives emphasized the importance of building long-term ties that go beyond education, strengthening people-to-people and cultural connections.

Rus Education congratulated the MBBS students on taking their first steps toward an inspiring journey of medical education, growth, and global opportunities.

The welcoming of Indian MBBS students coincides with Kalmykia’s preparations to host the International Buddhist Forum, scheduled to take place from 25–28 September 2025. The Forum will bring together spiritual leaders, scholars, and participants from across the globe, including India, to discuss Buddhism’s role in promoting peace, dialogue, and intercultural harmony.

For the new Indian MBBS students in Kalmykia, this unique moment offers not just academic enrichment but also a chance to be part of a historic cultural and spiritual exchange.
